More than Housing and Healthcare – Envisioning the Future of Senior Communities
As we look at the future of senior communities, there are new developments that stand out because of their unconventional mission, their collaboration with local affinity groups, or their creative outreach models. Join a CEO panel discussion on the visioning and development of the next generation of senior living communities, targeting specific populations and affinity groups. The session will start with an overview by DiMella Shaffer of many innovative development projects nationally, followed by a discussion amongst visionary CEOs who are choosing to develop new products that are unique and outside of their conventional model, reinforcing the idea that senior living is more than housing and healthcare.
Objectives:
- Learn about new initiatives that are in the works, revolutionizing senior communities
- Understand the benefit of aging in one’s own community
- Hear from visionary CEOs of national senior living organizations on what it takes to think outside of their own box and how to gather support at the board level to start new initiatives.
Speakers: Philippe Saad (DiMella Shaffer), Sean Kelly (The Kendal Corporation), Aileen Montour (LGBTQ Senior Housing, Inc.), Amy Schectman (2Life Communities)

Hitting the Reset Button: Marketing to the Next Generation of Consumers
We have acknowledged for some time that the Boomer generation of customers will have very different preferences, expectations and behaviors than previous older adult generations. This session will highlight a provider who has not only adapted marketing and sales tactics driven by the pandemic, but is also developing a meaningfully different product for the next generation of consumers.
Objectives:
- To acknowledge adaptation needed in sales and marketing tactics driven by the pandemic
- To discuss transformational changes the sector needs to embrace, beyond incremental adjustments to attract future consumers
- To profile a case study of a provider who is redefining retirement living, aligning with the next generation consumer
Speakers: Stephen Bailey, Laura Jones (The Kendal Corporation)
